Likely Bengals pick Joe Burrow and the LSU pro day make for an interesting story.

The LSU pro day isn’t going to happen as scheduled due to the obvious coronavirus developments around the world.

And that’s a point of disappointment for LSU quarterback Joe Burrow, likely No.1 pick by the Cincinnati Bengals at the end of the month.

Back in March, Burrow had pled for an LSU pro day to still happen though, but not because he wanted to throw or was concerned about his draft status — he wanted to help his guys.

Here’s what he wrote, per Bruce Feldman of Fox Sports: “He then tells me that it’s not about him. It’s about his guys that didn’t go to the combine, he wants them to have every chance to get drafted. I love that dude.”

The whole transcription:

Burrow just echoed these sentiments in a note on Twitter:

Realistically, Burrow opted not to throw at the combine because he’s focused on being the best rookie he can be in the NFL. He made his point about his draft stock all season — but he had planned to throw at LSU’s pro day for the sake of his teammates.

Burrow’s stock and his fate with the Bengals won’t change due to global developments. But it sure doesn’t hurt for an endearing story like this to break before the draft.
