Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s weekly podcast, the Dale Jr. Download, is still producing episodes, but because of the coronavirus pandemic — which has led to several states, including North Carolina, issuing stay-at-home orders — they’re recording the podcast remotely.
And the good news there is Earnhardt recording at home opened the door for his almost-2-year-old daughter, Isla, to make a guest appearance. The video from part of the podcast recording was published on YouTube this week, and it’s, predictably, adorable.
In it, Isla — who will celebrate her second birthday on April 30 and will become a big sister in a few months — sings a little, laughs a lot and presses a few buttons that nearly hindered Dale Jr.’s ability to continue recording. She also clearly loves rapidly alternating between sitting on her dad’s lap and being on the floor.
“You’re ready to get down? That’d be great,” Dale Jr. said. And a second later, he added, “Isla’s back.”
When Earnhardt’s life as a dad is largely documented in photos and short videos on Instagram, this video offers a delightful view of his and Isla’s interactions. And it’s priceless.
“Isla, don’t draw on your hand. You’re going to get us in trouble!”
During last week’s episode of the Dale Jr. Download, Earnhardt spoke in-depth publicly about how he and his wife, Amy, are expecting their second child. He said:
“I’m looking for forward to going through that role process again and to have another human in our house. The first two years with Isla have been incredible, and I can’t wait for that experience all over again and to see them two together, interact with each other, will just be so much fun.”
