It seems like just yesterday the Alabama football fanbase was arguing over who should be the starting quarterback, Jalen Hurts or Tua Tagovailoa. Now, with both players off the roster and looking to continue their careers professionally, the attention turns to redshirt-junior Mac Jones.
There’s some debate that Jones will have some competition for the starting job with Tun’s younger brother, Taulia Tagovailoa, and incoming freshman five-star Bryce Young.
Fox Sports’ betting site, foxbet.com, released their most recent odds to win the 2020 Heisman award, in which Jones places in at No. 10 with +2000 odds – Ohio State’s Justin Fields leads the pack with +350 odds.
While Jones is the only Alabama player in the top-ten, the list is riddled with other members of the Crimson Tide.
Alabama’s star running back, Najee Harris, makes the list at No. 12 with +3000 odds.
Where it gets interesting is when the two aforementioned candidates for the starting quarterback position make their appearances.
Yes, that’s right. Without starting a game Taulia makes the list at No. 21 with +6000 odds. The more interesting placement goes to the No. 15 spot, held by Bryce Young with odds of +3500.
Young, who hasn’t even taken a single collegiate snap made the list of potential Heisman winners.
Finally, Alabama’s likely top receiver for the 2020 season, DeVonta Smith, made the list at No. 24 with +6600 odds.
If there was any doubt about the 2020 Alabama football squad after missing the 2019 College Football Playoffs, it can be squashed by all the appearances the Crimson Tide made on this list.
