Oklahoma’s Corbin Merritt has entered the NCAA transfer portal, the Norman Transcript’s Joe Buettner reported Monday.
The 6’9” center transferred to Oklahoma from Daytona State last season. Merritt averaged 4.5 ppg in five games with Daytona State before suffering an injury.
With the Sooners, Merritt played a total of eight games this season. He totaled seven points and nabbed four rebounds in 15 minutes on the court.
At forward, Oklahoma will return Anyang Garang, Jalen Hill, Victor Iwaukor, Kur Kuath, Brady Manek and Read Streller.
The Sooners posted a 19-12 record in the regular season, virtually solidifying themselves in the NCAA tournament. Due to concerns about the coronavirus, the tournament was canceled.
The NCAA Division I Council voted to give a year of eligibility back to spring sport athletes on Monday, but the same was not done for winter sport athletes, effectively ending Kristian Doolittle’s career as a Sooner.
