Cornerback Xavier Rhodes’ time with Minnesota doesn’t fit a consistent narrative.
Rhodes was an All-Pro corner, who fell off in his final seasons with the team.
That led to the corner having a big contract that didn’t fit the skill set he provided. And the Vikings reportedly terminated Rhodes’ contract this offseason.
Per Stephen Holder of The Athletic, Rhodes said being cut by the Vikings “was a reality check.”
“You have to prove yourself every day,” Rhodes said.

Now, Rhodes will be able to prove himself on a different team. He reportedly will sign with the Colts in free agency.
If Rhodes can go back to being a corner who can shut down some of the best wide receivers in the NFL, then the Colts got a steal. Rhodes’ deal is $5 million, per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.
My understanding is Rhodes’ deal with the #Colts is worth around $5 million. Not a bad payday after #Vikings cut him, and a bargain if he returns to top form. https://t.co/jszv0CdusM

Rhodes recently said goodbye to the Vikings organization and their fan base on Instagram.
