Elandon Roberts details primary reason for choosing Dolphins in free agency

Elandon Roberts’ reason for leaving was very simple.

Elandon Roberts was among three New England Patriots who chose the Miami Dolphins in free agency this offseason.

Roberts spent his first four seasons with the Patriots, worked his way up to a team captain and even took over the role at fullback. He became an essential piece in New England, but he found the opportunity in Miami too good to pass up.

While speaking with reporters on Thursday, Roberts explained his decision to leave.

“My number one reason, like I keep saying, is Coach Flores,” Roberts said, via WEEI. “He just made me feel so comfortable with coming down and knowing what type of leader he is and the type of staff that’s here already. That was my number one main reason and whatnot. I’m 100 percent bought in. I can’t wait to get down (there) and I love that I’m a Miami Dolphin.”

The other two Patriots to make the move to Miami were Kyle Van Noy and Ted Karras — all three had a relationship built with Flores. The Dolphins have three first-round picks and potential to take over the AFC East without Tom Brady in New England.
