Minnesota has created a lot of positional needs for itself in the offseason.
Sports Illustrated discussed those needs, and what other teams in the NFC North need to do in the offseason.
The outlet highlighted wide receiver — because of the reported Stefon Diggs trade — cornerback, because of free agency departures — and defensive end because of Everson Griffen. Griffen has yet to agree to terms with another team, but he announced on Instagram that he would not be coming back.
Cornerback will be a big need after Xavier Rhodes, Trae Waynes and Mackensie Alexander have reportedly agreed to terms elsewhere.
Here’s what SI said about the cornerback situation:
“2018 first-round pick Mike Hughes can comfortably take one of the starting spots, and maybe—MAYBE—fellow third-year pro, undrafted man Holton Hill, can take the other. Still, the Vikings would in the very least need a third guy, and probably a fourth, if not fifth, given Mike Zimmer’s penchant for rotating at this position.”
All that is to say that the Vikings still have work to do.
