Looking ahead to the season, the Irish will play in plenty of big games, traveling to Lambeau Field to face Wisconsin, visiting USC for the season finale but the biggest game of the year for Notre Dame is surely their contest against Clemson. CBS Sports Barrett Sallee is high on this game as well, as this morning he ranked the November 7th game as the second most impactful regular season game of the year.
Sallee dismisses the fact that “Notre Dame is overrated” by mentioning that Brian Kelly has led the Irish to ten or more win seasons in 4 of the last 5 years. There are not many teams in the country that can boast that same resume of winning games. Unfortunately, their opponent Clemson is one of those and will be a stern test.
The game will feature two of the best quarterback in college this year, Sallee claiming that “this could be Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence’s Heisman Trophy coronation if he shows out on the road in the biggest game in South Bend in a long time.” It would be a shame if Notre Dame derailed the Heisman campaign for the presumed number 1 overall pick in next years NFL Draft.
Although the games ranked by Sallee might not be in the exact order I would put them in, there are plenty of contests on this list that make up must-see games. Ranking the Irish against the Tigers as one that will have an impact on the College Football Playoff race is not surprising at all.
