Super Bowl LIV champ Blake Bell leaves his home town team for ‘America’s Team’.
The free-agent quarterback turned tight end has agreed to a deal with the Dallas Cowboys per ESPN’s Todd Archer.
The details of the contract are yet to be known. The Cowboys lost old reliable Jason Witten to the Las Vegas Raiders in free agency before locking up Blake Jarwin to a four-year deal.
Bell caught eight passes last season for the Kansas City Chiefs for 67 yards, including this pass in Super Bowl LIV.
Bell, a quarterback during the majority of his time in an Oklahoma uniform, saw his role transition over the years. Beginning as the ‘Bell-dozer’, the 6-foot-6, 250-pound quarterback would come in and clean up drives for Landry Jones. In 2011 and 2012, Bell racked up 24 touchdowns on 104 carries. the ‘Bell-dozer’ package was one of the most predictable but also one of the most lethal packages in college football at the time.
Bell made the transition from gimmick quarterback to full-time QB his junior season. In 11 games, Bell threw just 233 passes for 1,648 yards and a 12 to 5 touchdown to interception ratio. In 2014, his senior season, Bell made the transition to tight end, proving to be a great career move.
