United States senators continues to work on negotiations for a stimulus package that would help the economy damaged by the coronavirus pandemic, and New York Sen. Chuck Schumer said on the floor that both Republicans and Democrats were at “the two-yard line.”
And because we all miss sports, or just the use of that phrase, everyone decided to make all the jokes about the Seattle Seahawks, who, as you’ll recall, once completely botched a play at the one-yard line during Super Bowl 49. Instead of handing the ball off to Marshawn Lynch, they had Russell Wilson throw a slant that was picked off by the Patriots’ Malcolm Butler.
Here’s the quote and the responses:
SCHUMER on the Senate floor: “Right now, we’re on the two [yard line]."

The Senate is on the two yard line and every Seahawk fan thinks, give it to Marshawn.

Chuck Schumer says they’re on the two yard line. Give the ball to the Marshawn….

They say the stimulus bill is now "on the two yard line," according to our @EamonJavers
Let's hope they give the ball to Marshawn Lynch and slam it in, rather than try to throw up, and end up with a pick.
