Sixers in March Madness: Glenn Robinson III leads Michigan past VCU

We continue the March Madness run with Glenn Robinson III and the Michigan Wolverines.

The outbreak of COVID-19 has taken over the sports world with the professional sports in suspension and the cancellation of the NCAA Tournament. So, Sixers Wire will bring back some of the best moments of March Madness for the current Philadelphia 76ers.

We continue our path to the title game for Glenn Robinson III and the Michigan Wolverines. After Robinson III stepped up in a big way to lead 4 seed Michigan past South Dakota State, they moved on to the Round of 32 to take on the VCU Rams.

March 23, 2013

After struggling so much in the win over South Dakota State, Trey Burke had a better game in this one for Michigan. He got a few shots to drop early and he finished with 18 points and seven assists while Mitch McGary had 21 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Wolverines.

As for Robinson III, he continued his hot shooting by going 7-for-10 from the floor for 14 points and nine rebounds in a 78-53 win to advance to the Sweet 16 for the first time since 1994. He had 21 points on 8-for-9 shooting in the opening win over the Jackrabbits. This is a good way to start the tournament for the freshman.

As for Robinson III, he and the team understand that there’s more work to be done. The Sweet 16 appearance is cool and it’s big for the program, but it is not the end goal.

He told reports:

We can’t end there. We can’t stop there. It’s something that we’ve already said we’ve already made up our minds that we need to go out and play as hard as we can and get more things done for this team.

Michigan now advances to take on the 1 seed Kansas Jayhawks so the challenges now get tougher for them. [lawrence-related id=28035,28024,28017]
