UNLV going to Touchdown Jesus
UNLV has added a big-time opponent to its 2022 schedule and it will be a road game at Notre Dame on Oct. 22. This is a one-off game that will pay the Rebels a nice sum of $1.35 million. The thought with UNLV playing in a new shiny stadium owned by the Las Vegas Raiders could attract some opponents to town but that is not the case.
Even with no return game happening, this is a good opportunity to play a major program like the Irish.
“Nothing says college football history more than playing a game at Notre Dame,” said UNLV Director of Athletics Desiree Reed-Francois in a statement. “We are looking forward to taking our team and our fans to South Bend for what is sure to be a memorable experience.”
2022 is just a few years away and would be in Marcus Arroyo’s third year on the job and hopefully, UNLV will be fielding a competitive team to take on the Irish.
Even in a loss, that seven-figure payday will help with the Rebels in other ways but it would be really nice to get a win.
This also will be the first-ever matchup between the two schools.
The only other game on the 2022 non-conference slate is a road game at Cal, so expect the final two non-conference games to be at home.
