Report: Vikings re-sign tackle Rashod Hill

Swing tackle Rashod Hill is reportedly back for 2020.

The Vikings were reportedly interested in re-signing tackle Rashod Hill, and now they’ve sealed the deal, according to a report.

According to Hill’s agent Brett Tessler, Hill is returning to the Vikings for the 2020 season despite receiving other offers.

If the Vikings decide to make tackle Riley Reiff a cap casualty, then depth and continuity at the tackles becomes a little more important.

Hill is a solid reserve, so I can see why this move works out. He’s a swing tackle, meaning he can play both right and left, so he is valuable to the Vikings as a platoon lineman. If Minnesota wants to add a starter in the draft or sign another lineman in free agency, I think that’s still a good option. But this way, the Vikings have locked down a player they already know.

Hill started eight games for the Vikings in 2018-19, but only started one in this most recent season. That start came in Week 17 against the Bears, when many of the reserves played due to a lack of playoff implications.

Correction: A previous version of this story misstated which tackle Riley Reiff plays. He has been the left tackle.
