The Dallas Cowboys have come to terms with another one of their own free agents. Thin at the spot, he club is bringing back linebacker Joe Thomas on a one-year contract.

New head coach Mike McCarthy stated he was going to put a huge emphasis on special teams after a very down year for that unit. Bringing back Thomas adds insurance behind all three linebacking positions including Leighton Vander Esch who has some unanswered questions about his current health. This also adds versatility to John Fassel’s new look special teams squad.
Thomas started two games for the Cowboys last season but played in 15. His 21 solo tackles in 2019 was his best season since his 2016 season with the Green Pay Packers. Coincidently enough, under head coach Mike McCarthy. According to Pro Football Reference Thomas played in 51% of the Cowboys special teams plays.
