LAS VEGAS – [autotag]Dan Ige[/autotag] is aiming for the top of the featherweight division.
After dropping his UFC debut, Ige (13-2 MMA, 5-1 UFC) has won five in a row and is coming off the biggest win of his career, a split decision win over Mirsad Bektic at UFC 247.
Being both an assistant manager to Dominance MMA and a fighter, Ige has gotten a real grasp of how the game works. Now he’s ready to test himself against some of the big names at 145 pounds.
“I’m constantly growing. I’m evolving with the game, but I would like to get back in there soon,” Ige said earlier this month at a Dominance MMA media day in Las Vegas. “Originally, I was thinking July. But I’m healthy, I’m young, and I want to be the best in the world. I am the best in the world, and I have to go out there and show it and prove it. So I know they have a big card coming up in San Diego – I think it would bee pretty awesome to fight there.
“Obviously, I want a top-ranked guy – someone like Shane Burgos, someone like ‘Korean Zombie’ (Chan Sung Jung), someone like Yair (Rodriguez). Any of those guys would be awesome. But I’m just here to win – fight, win and get paid, and keep growing and work my way to the top.”
