The Miami Dolphins haven’t exactly been shy to bolster their roster over the last 48 hours — we’ve seen Miami agree to terms with nearly double digit free agents, all in the name of quickly turning this roster around and creating a more competitive team for the year ahead. That effort continues this afternoon — as the Miami Dolphins have come to terms with free agent offensive lineman Ted Karras.
Karras is, of course, the former New England Patriots center who spent the entire 2019 season in the starting lineup as the replacement to David Andrews.

Miami has had reported interest in Karras for quite some time now and on the verge of free agency actually opening, we now see those whispers come to fruition. This agreement marks the latest in a significant of Patriots to be tapped in Miami’s rebuilding effort — he’ll join the likes of Eric Rowe and Kyle Van Noy in taking their talents to South Beach for 2020 and beyond. Rowe’s addition was one of Miami’s greatest success stories in 2019 — if the Dolphins are able to replicate that success with this year’s infusion of Patriots bred talent, the team will be well on their way to checking off several boxes with needed improvements and, hopefully, contending for an AFC East division championship in the absence of one Tom Brady.
Miami’s agreement with Karras is sensible to stay as a short-term deal, mainly because Karras was primarily a backup before the start of the 2019 season, which saw Patriots starter David Andrews placed on injured reserve with blood clots in his lungs. Karras has yet to establish himself as a full-time starting talent, but he will definitely get the chance to earn such a role with the Dolphins this upcoming season.
