One year ago on this date, Michigan State basketball dethroned two-time defending champ Michigan in the Big Ten Tournament. This was the sixth tournament title for the Spartans, which currently leads all Big Ten teams. MSU rallied in the second half during this victory over the Wolverines.

Matt McQuaid led the game in scoring with a career-high 27 points. Cassius Winston won the Big Ten Tournament Most Outstanding Player award. Simpler times, indeed. The absence of the Big Ten Tournament and the NCAA Tournament impacts all college sports fans. Especially fans of teams with a strong chance of winning a conference tournament and the NCAA tournament, like Michigan State. In my opinion, Michigan State still had a special season despite the abrupt end.
