“Hold onto your butts,” as famed actor Samuel L. Jackson said in the movie Jurassic Park.

Michigan is in hot, hot pursuit of 2021 Hopewell (VA) five-star running back TreVeyon Henderson, who’s also a big-time track star. Rated as the No. 11 player in the country by 247Sports, Henderson has been a key focus of the Wolverines coaching staff for some time now, and he’s arguably the top player on the board for the maize and blue.

So, when Henderson revealed his Top 9 on Monday night, it was a relief to the faithful in Ann Arbor when Michigan made the cut for the speedy running back.

According to 247Sports’ Brian Dohn, this is what kind of player Henderson is:

Frame to play cornerback or running back but must add size. Elite athleticism. Quick feet, loose hips allow for impressive change of direction. Offers position versatility. Accelerates well and has top end speed. As running back, combines vision and patience. Gets through hole quickly. Elusive in space. Effective pass catcher. As cornerback, comfortable and low in backpedal. Tight on receiver’s hip out of breaks. Drives on balls thrown in front. Tracks passes well. Physical hard hitter playing downhill. Sheds blocks and makes tackles in run game. Effective in press and off coverage. Must add strength, particularly in upper body. Adding mass to frame is important. Will contribute immediately at Top 10 program. First round NFL draft potential.

Michigan’s pursuit of Henderson rivals any other player in the 2021 class, even that of local four-star RB Donovan Edwards, as the Wolverines eagerly want to add the Virginia product to its ranks.

Henderson also included Virginia, Virginia Tech, Georgia, Texas, Ohio State, North Carolina, Penn State and Oklahoma in his Top 9, so winning this battle will assuredly be a difficult one.
