It appears that the franchise quarterback in New England is headed to finish his career with another team. Tom Brady took to Twitter to speak to fans and the organization about his future in football. In these messages, the quarterback showed a lot of love and respect for the staff, coaches, ownership, teammates, and fans of the New England Patriots. Ultimately, however, his football career will “continue elsewhere.”
In his 20 years with the Patriots, Brady helped win six Super Bowls, more than any other player in NFL history. He threw for 74,571 yards (second all-time) and 541 touchdowns (second all-time). Nobody expected all of this success to come from a sixth-round draft pick who was the seventh quarterback selected in the 2000 NFL draft.
For a large chunk of New England, Brady is all that they’ve ever known. Any player that is with a team for multiple decades will be shown appreciation. But what Brady did was special, and it will likely never be replicated.
When fans and reporters found out the news Tuesday morning, here’s how they reacted:
Tom Brady is leaving the Patriots. The end of the most incredible run in NFL history

For the first time in over two decades, the Patriots will have a new starting quarterback to start an NFL season. It's the end of an era.

Tom Brady is leaving the Patriots. Crushing, but, lets face it, expected.

Tom Brady set the standard for Boston sports his entire career. A champion and incredible human being with a relentless drive to improve. I don’t know when this will set in, but I’ll never not love Brady for the person he is and will continue to be.
