Cordarrelle Patterson trying to recruit Teddy Bridgewater to Chicago

Bears KR/WR Cordarrelle Patterson appears to be courting former Vikings teammate Teddy Bridgewater to Chicago.

On the first day of the “legal tampering” period of free agency, the Chicago Bears were active in the quarterback market. Whether that was with free agents and trade targets, general manager Ryan Pace was apparently reaching out to everyone.

For awhile, fans clung to hopes that Teddy Bridgewater would join the Bears, as reports suggested Chicago was in contract discussions with his team.

While the discussion soon shifted to talks of trading for Bengal quarterback Andy Dalton or Jaguars quarterback Nick Foles, there was a time when Bridgewater to the Bears was a realistic possibility. It doesn’t appear so anymore, especially with Chicago signing tight end Jimmy Graham to a two-year deal worth $16 million with $9 million guaranteed.

But is all hope dead?

Not if Cordarrelle Patterson has anything to say about. The Bears kick return specialist/receiver/running back appears to be courting Bridgewater to Chicago.

But don’t take it as any kind of disrespect towards current starting quarterback Mitchell Trubisky on Patterson’s part. Not only did he used to be teammates with Bridgewater on the Minnesota Vikings, but Patterson said that the Bears always welcome competition.

The Bears still haven’t made a move at quarterback during this “legal tampering” period, as it appears Tom Brady will ultimately have an impact of what goes down.

Perhaps Pace is waiting to see what happens with Brady and assess who becomes available or more likely to sign in free agency? Maybe Bridgewater is still a possibility?

With free agency set to begin Wednesday, I guess we’ll see.
