NFL won’t cancel 2020 Draft, but no fans allowed

The NFL Draft will not be postponed amid Coronavirus fears, though the format will be quite different in 2020.

There are real problems and then there are sports problems. The Coronavirus, Covid-19, has put that in perspective perhaps better than anything in recent memory. With leagues worldwide suspending play until further notice, there were real questions surrounding the 2020 NFL Draft scheduled for the end of April in Las Vegas, Nevada.

To the football fan, the draft is like Christmas, provided their favorite team hasn’t jettisoned their picks away in previous moves. The thought of having to wait longer for new players who will obviously solve all their team’s problems was perhaps too much to bear. The worrying is all for naught as the draft will proceed as scheduled.

For those who had made travel plans to Sin City for the event, that’s all been canceled.  It’s unclear who will be in attendance as the picks roll in. It’s entirely possible that it will be empty, though the situation remains extremely fluid.

The Dallas Cowboys draft picks are as follows:

  • Round 1, Pick 17
  • Round 2, Pick 51
  • Round 3, Pick 82
  • Round 4, Pick 123
  • Round 5, Pick 167
  • Round 5, Pick 179
  • Round 7, Pick 231

Check out our 2020 Offseason Manifesto, where we ponder what it would take to have the Cowboys with a playoff-capable roster before the draft even arrives.
