Report: Rams working to re-sign 4 starters, but not Cory Littleton

Whitworth, Blythe, Fowler and Brockers appear to be the Rams’ top priorities right now.

All signs seem to be pointing to Cory Littleton testing the free agent market and potentially leaving the Los Angeles Rams this offseason. With the Packers and Raiders reportedly set to be “all over” the pending free agent, the Rams will have a hard time retaining him.

And now Mike Silver of NFL Network is reporting that the Rams are working to re-sign four of their free-agent starters, but Littleton’s name wasn’t mentioned. Instead, Silver listed Andrew Whitworth, Austin Blythe, Michael Brockers and Dante Fowler Jr. as players the Rams are trying to bring back.

The fact that the Rams are trying to re-sign Whitworth isn’t the least bit surprising. The team has made it clear that he’s a priority, while Whitworth himself has said he wants to return to the Rams.

The other three players do come as somewhat of a shock, though. Blythe and Brockers were expected to test the free-agent market, while Fowler’s market could push him out of the Rams’ price range.

Silver also shared an interesting nugget suggesting Brandin Cooks could be traded this offseason, though the Rams probably won’t be seeking a first-round pick in return.

Needless to say, the Rams are in for a lot of changes this year, especially on the defensive side of the ball if Littleton departs and the team can’t keep Fowler and Brockers.
