The new league year is just days away and the anticipation continues to increase.
The Chargers are coming off a season where they finished 5-11, but they’re eager to make a quick turnaround as they move into their new stadium in Inglewood, CA.
Los Angeles has the most salary cap space available ($53 million, per Spotrac) that they’ve had in years and possess all seven draft picks to add fuel to an already talented roster.
With that being said, The Athletic’s Daniel Popper projected how the Bolts will go about their offseason, which includes drafting their quarterback of the future rather than signing one, signing two tackles and locking up two key contributors from last season.
I see the Chargers signing two tackles: left tackle Jason Peters on a one-year deal, and Bulaga on a longer-term deal at right tackle. I expect them to tender Davis, then use the sixth overall pick to take a quarterback — Justin Herbert or Tua Tagovailoa. With their remaining cap space, they will lock up some key role players like fullback Derek Watt and Adrian Phillips. There are plenty of fast receivers in this draft, and I think they can address that need with a Day 3 pick.
