Steelers Twitter takes big tumble in NFL rankings

Steelers Twitter doesn’t hold up to other NFL accounts.

Every year, Complex puts out its ranking of every NFL team’s Twitter account. There’s no complicated algorithm but they do offer some level of the rationale for the rankings. For the Pittsburgh Steelers, they seemed pretty unimpressed by their social media skills. They took a huge tumble from No. 10 last season to No. 22 this season.

Here’s what they had to say about the dip.

The Steelers aren’t afraid to talk that talk on Twitter, and we always give teams bonus points for smack talk. Give us the smoke! We know the discourse gets aggressive on the field; let’s see some of that on the timeline. Competitiveness is one of the things fan the love the most about sports. The Steelers also deserve props for making the most of an emerging star in blowing up TJ Watt’s profile, not to mention getting dogs involved. Football and dogs—that’s a solid combination.

This feels like a really canned response. But I won’t deny the Steelers Twitter account isn’t as fresh or lively as many of the others ahead of them on this list. Pittsburgh has a huge Twitter following and the fanbase as a whole is very active on social media. But their Twitter account isn’t the best at taking advantage of it.
