Tacko Fall nearly triple-doubles vs. Windy City Bulls in Claws loss

Boston Celtics two way center Tacko Fall nearly had a triple-double with the Maine Red Claws in Sunday’s loss to the Windy City Bulls.

Boston Celtics two way center Tacko Fall came up short of a triple-double in a loss to the Windy City Bulls Sunday afternoon with the Maine Red Claws.

The Senegalese big man scored 16 points, 14 points and a season-high 9 blocks in the loss to the eponymous Chicago NBA team’s developmental affiliate, the Claws falling 120-112 despite Fall’s outstanding statline.

The UCF product wasn’t the only player on Boston’s roster who played well in the loss — fellow 7-footer Vincent Poirier logged 15 points, 12 boards and 3 blocked shots, even nailing a 3-pointer for good measure.

However, the duo of Celtics bigs saw their backcourt teammates have another rough night from the floor.

Rookie Carsen Edwards went 3-of-14 from the floor and a terrible 0-for-8 from beyond the arc for 8 points, while two way point guard Tremont Waters had nearly as inefficient an evening with just 5 points on 2-of-7 shooting — though he did dole out 6 assists.

The Red Claws fall to 28-13 but are still the second-best team in the G League’s East and hold the second-highest winning percentage in the league behind only the Wisconsin Herd, the developmental affiliate of the Milwaukee Bucks.

The Claws next face the Delaware Blue Coats on Wednesday, Mar. 11 at 11 am ET, and the contest will be broadcast on ESPN+.
