Chase Claypool suggested as perfect Redskins draft fit

Can Chase Claypool be a big target for Dwayne Haskins?

The Washington Redskins need some weapons around Dwayne Haskins.

Breakout star Terry McLaurin was a star last year. But this offseason the team has already lost names like Paul Richardson and Jordan Reed before making additions to the roster.

What about Notre Dame’s Chase Claypool?

He’s the perfect prospect fit for the Redskins coming out of the combine, per Ben Linsey of Pro Football Focus:

“There is still some question as to whether tight end or wide receiver is his best spot in the NFL, but there should be a spot for him at the next level. There aren’t too many players with his physical profile, athleticism and history of production coming out of the collegiate ranks. Claypool racked up over 1,000 receiving yards and 13 receiving touchdowns this past season at Notre Dame to go along with a receiving grade of 82.3.”

Claypool lit the combine on fire, measuring at 6’4″ and 238 pounds before running a 4.42-second time in the 40-yard dash. That atop good workouts seemed to have the NFL dashing back to the film to check on him again.

It’s hard to say if Claypool ran his stock all the way up to the first round given the depth of this wideout class. But if he’s there in the second round, it might make sense for the Redskins to roll the dice on him as a complement to McLaurin.
