Yes, you read that headline correctly. The Tennessee Titans are being given the fourth-best odds of all NFL teams to trade for Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback, Nick Foles.
The odds come from SportsLine:
If the Jaguars trade Nick Foles, which team will he be playing for Week 1 of the 2020 season?
Colts +300
Bears +500
Patriots +700
Titans +900
Bucs +1200
Eagles +2000https://t.co/oSemzLKeIz pic.twitter.com/8oJ4ryDQuB— SportsLine (@SportsLine) March 4, 2020
The reason this is even being brought up comes from the fact that recent reports have suggested that the Jags are looking to trade their highly-paid signal-caller, who is set to make $76 million over the next three years.
Normally, one would scoff at the idea of a team trading within the division, but the Jags are probably desperate to unload the expensive mistake that is Foles and get a draft pick in return.
Jacksonville is in the process of rebuilding its roster, is strapped for cash, and might have a better, cheaper option under center in Gardner Minshew. In this situation, the Jags can’t afford to be picky.
While there is likely to be at least a few teams interested in taking that plunge, the Titans aren’t going to be one of them.
The big decision to be made in Nashville is whether or not to re-sign Ryan Tannehill to a long-term deal, give him the franchise tag, or bring in Tom Brady if he’s actually interested in coming to the Titans in free agency.
If somehow general manager Jon Robinson goes from those options to having to trade for Foles this offseason, it would be one of the most epic failures of a GM in the history of the sport.
Bottom line: those odds are way too high.
