No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson and reigning NBA Rookie of the Year Luka Doncic put on a show Wednesday night as the two rising stars faced each other for the first time.
The contest between the two players was highly-anticipated as Williamson and Doncic are among the next wave players set to carry the NBA into the future for years to come.
Four-time NBA MVP LeBron James recently said the league was in good hands with the likes of Williamson, Doncic and Ja Morant among others leading the way.
Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle agrees with that notion.
The longtime coach appeared on the Dan Patrick Show Thursday morning to discuss a variety of topics, including some of the up-and-coming players in the league.
“[Morant and Williamson] are both transcendent talents,” Carlisle said. “We’re so lucky. Doncic comes in the league last year, you got Morant and Williamson this year and there are a lot of other great young players. It’s just a really, really exciting time in the NBA.”
All three players mentioned by Carlisle each appeared in the NBA Rising Stars Game during All-Star Weekend. They have become must-watch TV on a nightly basis given their ability to make electrifying plays seemingly every time they take the court.
