Tyler Herro put up shots pre-game with the Heat on Wednesday

The Heat rookie was seen going through a workout on the court Wednesday night as the Heat face the Magic.

Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro appears close to a return after the rookie was seen Wednesday night participating in a workout on the court prior to the team hosting the Orlando Magic.

Herro has missed the past 12 games with an ankle injury, and has been ruled against the Magic, but has progressed to doing some activities on the floor after having the boot on his right foot removed a few weeks ago.

The Heat are hopeful Herro can return to action within the next week but his status moving forward will be dependent on how his foot responds to treatment and practice.

Herro has emerged as a key piece for the Heat this season, averaging 13.1 points, four rebounds and two assists in 46 games played. Without Herro, though, the Heat have posted a 5-7 record but have won three straight heading into Wednesday night as they wrap up a five-game homestand.

Herro ranks fifth in 3-pointers among rookies.
