BOSTON — Former University of Tennessee basketball player Grant Williams scored four points, pulled down three rebounds and dished out two assists for the Boston Celtics in their 129-120 overtime loss to the Brooklyn Nets Tuesday night.
The Celtics (41-19) had an 84-67 lead, but squandered it as they surrendered 51 points over the final 12 minutes of regulation.
After sending the game to overtime, the Nets closed things out with an 11-2 run.
Williams, who played 23 minutes against Brooklyn Tuesday night, is averaging 3.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 1 assist per game in 58 appearances this season.
He was a first-round selection (No. 22 overall) by the Celtics in the 2019 NBA Draft.
Williams left Rocky Top as the two-time Southeastern Conference Player of the Year as a junior, following the 2018-19 season when the Vols won 31 games and advanced to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament.
