Earlier this offseason, the Broncos hired former Giants coach Pat Shurmur to serve as their new offensive coordinator. Shurmur loved to target tight end Evan Engram in New York so Noah Fant appears poised to have a big role in Denver’s offense this season.
Speaking at the NFL combine last week, Broncos coach Vic Fangio indicated that Fant will make a big jump in 2020 — regardless of the offensive scheme.
“Noah’s a good fit in anybody’s offense,” Fangio said on Feb. 25. “I think the biggest thing with Noah that we’ll see is, I think he’ll make great improvements from Year 1 to Year 2. He had a good season for us last year, but I expect him to even be better just from himself being more comfortable, more confident.
“He did get better as the season went on. I expect that to continue because he’s got the right mindset. The guy’s a worker, prideful. I think he would improve no matter what offense we have.”
Fant caught 40 passes for 562 yards and three touchdowns as a rookie.
