Darren Wolfson talks about the likelihood of Minnesota drafting Antoine Winfield Jr. on SKOR North

If safety Anthony Harris isn’t staying, would you want the Vikings to take Antoine Winfield Jr.?

Darren Wolfson of 5 Eyewitness News and SKOR North, went on SKOR North to talk about the Vikings’ safety situation.

Wolfson said if he had to bet, safety Anthony Harris is a goner. That means  the Vikings will have a void at that position, which could be filled in the draft.

When it comes to Minnesota drafting Gophers safety Antoine Winfield Jr., Wolfson said that a case can be made.

“So who replaces Anthony Harris? Winfield Jr. could make some sense in the second round,” Wolfson said on the radio station.

“I still think the consensus is that he’s not the No. 1 or No. 2 safety,” Wolfson said, “I just don’t think three or four safeties are going in the first round, so I think he goes sometime on Friday.”

I would like for the Vikings to draft Winfield Jr. if Harris isn’t coming back. Winfield Jr. put up good numbers in college and a player of his caliber on a rookie contract, paired up with Harrison Smith, has the potential to be really good. If he’s there in the second round, the Vikings should probably take him. If he somehow makes it to the third, they have to draft him, then.
