A random Twitter user lit a fire under Ja Morant after the Memphis Grizzlies’ five-game losing streak.
The Grizzlies were major underdogs against the Los Angeles Lakers, but Morant played out of his mind, and powered his team past LeBron James and Anthony Davis, 105-88. Morant explained he had extra fire to end the skid.
“The losing streak — I felt like I could have been better in a lot of places, and I’m thankful for this guy that tweeted, that said I don’t have that fire in my eye no more,” Morant said on the FOX Sports broadcast. “That game right there was for him. That’s what I do. I prove people wrong each and every night.”
After a game-high 27 points and ending the Grizzlies losing streak, Ja Morant says this performance was dedicated to a Twitter commenter who said he didn’t have the fire in his eyes anymore.

Morant’s performance drew praise from The King.
“The kid is super special,” LeBron James told reporters, via ESPN. “Like I said when we just played him in L.A., Memphis got a great one. They got a great one. So, the sky’s the limit for the kid.”
Morant topped James in points, assistants and rebounds. And perhaps he can feel good about muting that random hater — or altogether ignoring his mentions on Twitter.
