The saga of LaMelo Ball’s future with Big Baller Brand continued on Thursday on with yet another uncertain comment. Father LaVar Ball appeared on TMZ Live and was asked about the future of LaMelo’s time with the company.
Specifically, he was asked if LaMelo would be sporting Big Baller Brand shoes and clothing in the league after being drafted high up in June’s NBA Draft. For the first time possibly ever, LaVar seemed to suggest some uncertainty in the matter.
“Will he be wearing a Big Baller Brand shoe? Uh, I don’t know. You guys will have to stay tuned for that now.”
LaMelo has remained a sneaker free agent during his season in the National Basketball League. While LaVar would loudly proclaim his sons can wear any brand, LaMelo never wore his MB1 shoes nor did he wear Big Baller Brand apparel.
Instead, he most often played in Kevin Durant’s signature shoes. Likewise, brother Lonzo hasn’t been spotted in Big Baller Brand gear in a long time as he’s opted to wear Kobe Bryant shoes while playing.
LaMelo was asked on the family’s Facebook show “Ball in the Family” about his desire to continue with the brand last year and he remained non-committal. Since then, he’s done nothing to signal any intention of re-upping with the company his father started.
If he chooses not to commit to Big Baller Brand, he and his brother figure to be two of the bigger sneaker free agents in years.
