If the Los Angeles Lakers are going to extend their current win-streak to seven games, they will have to do it without their leader and best player, LeBron James. The Lakers announced on Wednesday evening that LeBron James will miss Thursday’s game against the Golden State Warriors with what they are calling a “sore groin,” according to The Athletic’s Bill Oram.
James has only missed two of the Lakers 56 games so far this season. As far as positives, the Lakers will get an opportunity to improve on their very low marks when they’ve played without LeBron. So far this season, the Lakers are outscored by -2.6 points per 100 possessions when LeBron sits, the lowest mark of any player on the team when they sit.
While the Lakers are looking to maintain hold of the top seed in the West, the remaining two games on the trip, against potential first round opponents Memphis and New Orleans, will likely be much tougher than tomorrow’s game against the worst team in the Western Conference.
