Since the very moment of his tragic passing, Kobe Bryant’s Nike sneaker line has turned into an absolute mess.
After his death every single Kobe sneaker in Nike’s inventory was bought up. Even a month later, you still can’t find pairs online. If you type “Kobe” in Nike’s search bar, it takes you to this page.
Luckily for fans of the Lakers’ legend, that might be changing soon. Nike is set to release a new colorway of the Kobe 5 Protro in March, according to Footwear News. It’s the same shoe he wore during the 2010 NBA Finals.
Anthony Davis wore it in the All-Star game earlier this month.
This sneaker is going to be the first posthumous release from Kobe’s sneaker line since his passing.
It’s pretty good to see fans have a shot at buying another Kobe sneaker again. Folks have wanted to buy his shoes since his passing but couldn’t because either they were sold out or they were being priced out on the aftermarket by people taking advantage of the tragedy — gross, right?
These shoes are a way for them to remember their idol and this is another chance for them to finally get what they’ve wanted.
Let’s hope the resellers don’t mess this one up.
