Oregon QB Justin Herbert offers compliments to Miami Dolphins

Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert was very complimentary of the Miami Dolphins and coach Brian Flores on Tuesday at the NFL Combine.

The Miami Dolphins are probably going to share Lucas Oil Stadium this week with their next franchise quarterback — they just don’t know who exactly it is going to be. The team’s hopes of Joe Burrow strong-arming his way out of Cincinnati are fleeting, but Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa and Oregon’s Justin Herbert are both firmly on the team’s radar. And, most importantly, they’re absolutely realistic outcomes for the Dolphins.

Tagovailoa’s future is questionable, but also promising. Justin Herbert? He’s making his presence known this week both at the podium and in the workouts. But Herbert’s most recent run in is one that will definitely be of note to Dolphins fans — one Hall of Fame quarterback and Miami Dolphins alumni Dan Marino.

Herbert brought his encounter with Marino in an Indianapolis elevator to life during his Tuesday press availability without offering too much detail — but it also prompted a number of compliments for the Dolphins organization from the Oregon passer.

“(Marino) is a guy that’s done all the right things in an incredible career in the NFL, and a guy who knows what he’s looking for. I think that organization’s in good hands and they’re going to get their right guy,” said Herbert.

“They’re in great hands with Brian Flores.”

Who knows if Herbert intentional played to the heartstrings of the Dolphins or not — but regardless, it won’t hurt his efforts to garner attention from Miami as the team continues to search for their franchise quarterback in 2020 and beyond.
