Show’s over. Everybody go home.
There were rumblings LSU quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Joe Burrow — the guy with the minuscule hands that he joked about — might not want to play for the Cincinnati Bengals, the NFL team that owns the top pick in the 2020 NFL draft.
That set up for some high draft drama. Who would trade for Burrow, a la the Eli Manning and Philip Rivers swap of 2004? What would the haul be for a talent like Burrow? How many jokes could we make about the woeful Bengals?
Alas, Burrow put that all away with one statement at the 2020 scouting combine.

So much for the idea of Joe Burrow not wanting to play for the Bengals.
Burrow: “I’m not going to not play. I’m a ball player. I’m going to show up.”

I love the double negative there, mostly because when the tweet came up, my heart jumped out of my chest for a second before I figured out that he meant he would play anywhere.
The good news is Burrow is going to accept his fate and play anywhere. The bad news is we were robbed of the drama and fun that would have come with him forcing his way to another team.
