Not only did drafttek.com predict that there would be two quarterbacks off the board by pick No. 25, but that Minnesota would take the third one in the draft.
Vikings selected Oregon quarterback Justin Herbert in a mock draft done by drafttek.com. Herbert had a strong year at Oregon in 2019, throwing for 3,471 yards and 32 touchdowns. And regardless of how you feel about him as a prospect, his arm strength is undeniable.
While there is upside to Herbert, there are also some aspects of his game he needs to work on. CBS Sports, for instance, thinks that Herbert struggles under pressure, which might be a problem if he’s heading to Minnesota, a team that has struggled on the offensive line at times and might have to cut tackle Riley Reiff due to the team’s salary cap situation.
Herbert would be an interesting option for Minnesota, because it needs at least a backup quarterback. However, I think with the Vikings’ current salary cap situation, they should prioritize other positions in the first round, then find a quarterback later in the draft.
