We’re just a couple days into MLB spring training, and one Tampa Bay Rays fan showed up to the ballpark ready to play.
During Sunday’s Grapefruit League game against the New York Yankees at Charlotte Sports Park, the Rays’ Lucius Fox drove a curling foul ball towards the grassy area beyond right-field stands. The ball could have easily landed in that picnic area, but one Rays fan was determined to catch the ball on the fly.
And, oh man, did he ever earn it.
This fan channeled Odell Beckham Jr., and laid out in full extension to make the one-handed grab.
It’s Spring Training for fans, too… wait what? pic.twitter.com/tUrKv5MR1p

I mean, what a freaking catch. Let’s get this fan a non-roster invite. That effort deserves something.

The crowd gave this guy a deserved standing ovation to which he responded by taking a bow.
Sure, it’s just spring training, but we probably won’t see a better catch from a fan all season — it may be up there with the on-field product too.
