The 2020 NFL offseason has officially started for the Philadelphia Eagles who are engulfed in numerous reports surrounding the future of Alshon Jeffery.
It started with an in-depth report from Connor Hughes of TheAthletic.com, who suggested the Eagles wide receiver “would welcome the change of scenery” that came with a trade.
Shortly after the report, Jeffery’s agent weighed-in on the conversation, not necessarily refuting the report, but stating that his client loves playing in Philly.
Injury-riddled and just not himself this season, Jeffery snagged 43 balls for 490 yards and four touchdowns in 10 games.
Jeffery is due a guaranteed $11.5 million next season after restructuring his contract last fall and will spend the bulk of the offseason and training camp recovering from Lisfranc surgery on his foot.
With the Eagles having to eat $26 million in dead salary cap space if they outright released Jeffery, the only viable options are a repair of the relationship or trade of the wide receiver to another franchise for suitable compensation in return.
