Redskins’ offensive core just keeps getting younger

The Redskins youth movement continues.

Washington Redskins head coach Ron Rivera wasn’t joking when he said one of his goals was to get younger while revamping the roster.

The Redskins took another step in this area Thursday by releasing veteran tight end Jordan Reed. That throws Jeremy Sprinkle into the spotlight at the position right now and he’s just 25.

Reed would’ve obviously stuck around were it not for his continued health issues. But either way, the offensive core once again took a step back in average age.

As Mike Clay pointed out, Dwayne Haskins is just 22. Terry McLaurin and his fellow wideouts are not even 25. Derrius Guice is the same age as his quarterback.

And this is just the beginning, as the Redskins figure to add more offensive talent via the draft. Normally this might be at least a slight concern, but with a personality like Rivera at the controls, it could classify as a strength before long.
