PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia 76ers returned from the All-Star Break and started its unofficial second half the NBA season with a victory at home Thursday night.
The Sixers (35-21) had to work a little overtime to nab a 112-104 victory over the Brooklyn Nets at Wells Fargo Center.
Philadelphia received 22 points, 12 rebounds and six assists from starting forward and former University of Tennessee standout Tobias Harris. Harris played 46 minutes against the Nets (25-29).
Josh Richardson, another former Volunteer, scored seven points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out seven assists in 39 minutes for Philadelphia, which trailed 52-42 before halftime before storming back to force overtime.
The 76ers stepped up their defense in the extra frame and outscored the Nets 9-1.
Philadelphia returns to action Saturday night when it travels to Milwaukee to face the Bucks, the league’s top team, in a possible Eastern Conference Finals preview.
Tipoff is slated for 8:30 p.m. and the game will be nationally televised on ABC.
