Trae Young went off on Thursday night in the Hawks’ first game since the All-Star break, scoring 50 points in a 129-124 win over the Miami Heat.
Young looked fired up from the tip, and, once he stretched the floor with few very deep 3s, he started attacking the rim — he finished with 19 free throws, making 18 of them. Throw in a night when he hit 8 of 15 from beyond the arc, and that’s how you get your first 50-point game.
Young kept the celebration going after the game, too, taking a shot at Jimmy Butler on Twitter.
For some context: In December, the Hawks were playing the Heat and Young prematurely celebrated, screaming “it’s over!” with about a minute remaining after a big bucket. The Hawks then blew a six-point lead in the final minute.
After that game, Butler put a video out on Instagram with the caption: “this man @traeyoung is a teller of the future. he was right. game WAS over!”
Last night, after Young dropped 50, he got to have the last laugh:
…and FYI @JimmyButler was right, I can see the future… I saw tonight happening awhile ago🤷🏽♂️ #AndIDontEvenLikeTwitterBeefsBuuut

We’ll wait to see if Butler responds.
