Heat rookie Tyler Herro ruled out Thursday night vs. the Hawks

Herro will miss his sixth straight game on Thursday night due to a right ankle injury.

Miami Heat rookie Tyler Herro will not play Thursday night on the road against the Atlanta Hawks due to a lingering ankle injury, the team announced.

The 13th overall pick has missed the past five games for the Heat after suffering a foot injury on Feb. 3. The injury prevented Herro from playing in the NBA Rising Stars Game during All-Star Weekend though he still attended the event in Chicago.

Herro said during his media availability last Friday that the team initially thought the injury would keep him out until the playoffs. After further evaluation, it was determined that Herro will be able to return soon as he was scheduled to have the boot on his right foot removed this week.

Prior to suffering the injury, Herro had missed just three games, two due to a knee injury and one for a sprained ankle. In 46 games played, Herro is averaging 13.1 points, four rebounds and two assists this season.
