The Brooklyn Nets have a tough road between them and the 2020 NBA Playoffs.
Right now, the Nets are the No. 7 team in the Eastern Conference. Brooklyn leads the eighth-seeded Orlando Magic by two games in the standings and the ninth-place Washington Wizards by five games.
Along with the tight standings, the Nets will face a playoff team from either the Eastern or Western Conference — as of the All-Star break — in 17 of their final 29 games.
Furthermore, the Nets could be without Kyrie Irving for a while. He’s seeing a specialist regarding his right shoulder later in the week — the same shoulder that bothered him earlier in 2019-20 and led to the point guard missing 26 games in a row.
A lot will fall on Spencer Dinwiddie’s plate. Even though the variables that led to his added responsibilities are out of the point guard’s control, Dinwiddie is still making the best of the situation, per Brian Lewis of the New York Post:
We’ve just got to play with who we have. It’s not easy. It’s not ideal. But it’s the cards we’re dealt. We’ve got to continue to put our best foot forward and do what we need to do to get to the playoffs.
Dinwiddie’s next test comes on Thursday when the Nets visit the Philadelphia 76ers.
