The Arizona Cardinals have lots of options with their 2020 first round draft pick, but former Oklahoma Heisman winner Kyler Murray would like to see a reunion in Phoenix.
Arizona holds the No. 8 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, and Murray has made his strong relationship with former Oklahoma teammate CeeDee Lamb known.
“Me and CeeDee have a great relationship,” “That’s one of my boys. I would obviously be very fond of that pick.” Murray told The Arizona Republic’s Bob McManaman. “Obviously, I don’t make the choices. I’m here for whatever, but I’m looking forward to free agency and us adding some great players and adding more of them in the draft so we can continue to grow this thing. But yeah, if we pick CeeDee, that would be great. We have a very comfortable relationship. I’ve played with him, I’ve been with him for years, so yeah, I don’t think that would be a bad pick at all.”
Murray completed 64.4 percent of his passes for 3,722 yards in his rookie campaign, scoring 20 touchdowns and taking home the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.
In Lamb’s junior season, he caught 62 passes for 1,327 yards and 14 touchdowns. He averaged 21.4 yards per catch while cementing himself as one of the top receivers in the draft.
“You watch CeeDee Lamb and there are some things that come to mind when I watch him that remind me a little bit of DeAndre Hopkins,” Arizona Cardinals GM Steve Keim told Arizona Sports 98.7 FM. “You talk about a guy that maybe isn’t the fastest vertically, but is gritty, tough and runs great routes.”
In their single season starting at Oklahoma together, Murray and Lamb combined for more than 6,500 total yards of offense.
According to Keim, Murray has made it clear about Arizona’s No. 8 pick and the idea of Lamb.
The NFL combine will take place Feb. 27-March 1 and the NFL Draft begins on Friday, April 23 at 7 p.m.
