Former Carolina Panthers tight end Greg Olsen is reportedly signing with the Seattle Seahawks, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports.
Olsen, who played under now Washington Redskins coach Ron Rivera for several years in Carolina, was thought to be a great fit to take over as the TE in Washington, and he met with the team last week to discuss a potential signing.
However, it looks like Olsen is choosing to rather sign with a contending team, and he will sign a one-year, $7 million contract with the Seahawks.
Where the Redskins will look now is up for debate, but many believe that they will attempt to satisfy their TE needs in the free agency market with a potential pursuit of Atlanta Falcons tight end Austin Hooper.
Greg Olsen really liked Buffalo and Washington, and strongly considered both. But the lure of playing with Russell Wilson in Seattle was just too strong. Olsen takes a 1-year, $7 million deal with the Seahawks.
