Joel Embiid gives thoughts on off court chemistry, insight on hobbies

Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid gives his thoughts on off the court chemistry and insight on his hobbies.

Most people believe that off the floor chemistry can lead to a lot of success on the floor. Why not try and be best friends off the basketball court and then carry that over to the games?

In most cases, this is true. For example, LeBron James and Dwyane Wade are the best of friends off the floor and it led to a ton of on-court chemistry between them when James was with the Miami Heat. Even James and Anthony Davis currently with the Los Angeles Lakers is a good example.

If you ask Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid, he is a little indifferent on the subject.

“It’s important to a certain point,” he said over the weekend in Chicago. “You don’t have to be hanging out all the time, going to the club and partying and all that stuff.”

Embiid explained that he is a guy who would much rather stay inside and hang out with his family rather than hit the hottest clubs or anything.

“For a guy like me, I don’t know, the last time I went out was probably two years ago,” he added. “I don’t do anything. I just like to stay home playing video games and be with my girlfriend, my dog, my family. I think to a certain point you can hang out, but it doesn’t mean that you guys are going to be great on the court.”

A lot of people–ahem, Chris Broussard–believe that Embiid and Ben Simmons don’t have the greatest chemistry and some people will point to off the floor stuff. Why don’t they hang out? Why don’t they go to a bar?

Just because they don’t go hang out all the time doesn’t mean that their chemistry is off. Besides, it appears that the two are getting along just fine.
