They do say that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
And by the looks of it, Dennis Schroder should be incredibly flattered by the newest addition to the Atlanta Hawks, Clint Capela.
Capela already rocks the same golden patch of hair that Schroder does. Capela debuted the patch in October 2018, more than three years after a report by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution revealed Schroder dyed a patch of his hair gold (not yellow) because of his mother.
And now, Capela is a member of Schroder’s old team, wearing Schroder’s old number.
Capela was photographed holding up the No. 17 Hawks jersey following his introductory press conference in Atlanta on Feb. 9.
The similarities did not go unnoticed by Schroder.
Screengrabbed by Hawks beat reporter Chris Kirschner, Schroder posted the picture of Capela to his Instagram stories with a pair of eyes and a facepalm emoji saying “Golden patch & my jersey #. This getting out of hand” as he added a crying laughing emoji and tagging Capela in the post.

Capela responded, “it’s about to be different though” with three corresponding crying laughing emojis.
Schroder’s look as changed over the years (including going short at Thunder media day prior to the start of the 2018-19 season), but he brought back the golden swath in February 2019 following the birth of his son.
The next time Capela and Schroder will see each other on the court is when the Thunder travel to Atlanta to take on the Hawks on Wednesday, March 18.
